Celestial Dreams
Moon: Osage Orange (Maclura pomifera) heartwood is golden to bright yellow, which inevitably ages to a darker medium brown with time. Having typically small, crooked, and knotty trunks, Osage Orange isn’t usually harvested for lumber, but can occasionally be found for sale in either board or small turning block form. It is commonly used for fence posts, dye, archery bows, musical instruments, turnings, and other small specialty wood items.
Star: Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a pioneering woody species commonly found in overgrown pastures, fields, fence lines, and wood lot edges. Wood from this tree is very dense, displaying a brown and pale-yellow sapwood. Perhaps most interesting is the natural fluorescence found in the wood which can be observed under a blacklight! Once under a blacklight this wood will emit a strong yellow-green glow.
